Trail setup
A myriad! The altogether some 200 km of waymarked trails are actually hiking loops, but the Lasne (pronounced laan) commune is generous and allows them also for horseback riders and mountain bikers (so please be FRIENDLY and CAUTIOUS, so we can continue riding here).
Map and signage
Signage appears to be excellent, but with the extensive network of trails interconnecting, overlapping and criss-crossing, I would say you need the map to orient yourself!
A 1:10,000 scale map can be purchased from the non-profit organization Lasne Nature, from National Geographic Institute (click on toeristische kaarten/cartes touristiques), on-line or in their shop in avenue Louise in Brussels, the latter my favourite map hideaway.
Connecting trails
Should you want more, permanent mountain bike trails in Genappe and Braine l'Alleud can easily be picked up in the south and in the west respectively. The Château de la Hulpe part of Forêt de Soignes is also close-by in the north (in this forest, but even further up north, you have the trail of Hoeilaart).

I bow for the Lasne commune! The first time I rode here I was touched til tears. Such quality trails, and all legal, and oh so close to Bruselas. Sure, there are some tarmac sections, and even more cobble sections (that I absolutely detest), but the off-road sections are worth it!
Personally I always start from La Hulpe/Terhulpen, instead of Lasne itself. Going by car I drive into the village, but then follow sign for Fondation Folon. Unless I choose to ride my bike there, of course ...
NB. This area is very rain-sensitive.
My super-duder favourite of an annual event: Les Boucles de Lasne (13 June 2011).
